SPR and DM Environmental Policies and Environmental Management System - The DM Environmental Policy supports the DOE SPR-wide Environmental Policy through integrated safety management (ISM). DM received and has maintained independent certification of the environmental management system in accordance with the ISO 14001 International Standard since May 2000. |

Pollution Prevention - In competition among all federal agencies nation-wide for success in greening the government, named a winner for integrating its Environmental Management into its Business Systems. This innovation produced $2.4 million in cost avoidances and reduced annual waste generation by 25 million pounds from 1999 through 2003. | |

On March 16, 2009, Lisa Jackson, EPA Administrator, announced the termination of its Performance Track Program. The National Environmental Performance Track was a public-private partnership that encouraged continuous environmental improvement by member facilities. In 2001 DM was selected by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as one of the first 226 organizations nationwide to be named as a charter member of the National Environmental Performance Track. DM was also an active member of the Performance Track Participants Association (PTPA) which provided support to the EPA in furthering their Performance Track program. |
